A ѿappUniversity College of Nursing student gets hands-on experience with a patient simulator in the Olga M. Mural Simulation Lab in Henderson Hall.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, students in  ѿappUniversity’s College of Nursing have been employed in hospitals throughout Northeast Ohio, where they have honed their skills and observed healthcare professionals on the front lines.

ѿappUniversity President Todd Diacon announced Thursday that Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D., has been selected to serve as vice president for student affairs, effective May 1, 2020. In addition, Diacon has appointed Amoaba Gooden, Ph.D., as the interim vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion, effective June 1, 2020.

As the concern of the COVID-19 pandemic heightened throughout the month of March, ѿappmade the decision to cancel face-to-face classes and move to completely online classes. But that meant some heavy lifting on the part of faculty, staff and students. Over the course of six days, Kent State's IT staff, Continuing and Distance Education staff, departmental educational technologists and instructional designers moved more than 8,000 traditional courses to digital learning platforms for remote instruction.

ѿappUniversity was to move all classes online, causing surrounding businesses to do the same, like WKSU. “WKSU began planning for potential disruptions at the beginning of March,” News Director Andrew Meyer said. “Within two weeks, it became clear that WKSU would need to take action on those plans.”
