ѿappUniversity students make their way across campus during the 2020 Fall Semester.

They’re back! ѿappUniversity students have begun their fall 2020 classes, and official enrollment figures include many highlights.

Now that the fall semester at ѿappis in full force, we are excited to announce that two of our most anticipated traditions will be held during the month of October. (Photo from Homecoming 2019)

Two recent incidents involving the painting of racist messages on the Rock located on Front Campus, coupled with the series of tragic national events this year involving the shootings of Black Americans, serve as glaring evidence that this university and our country need to do better when addressing racism and violence against Black Americans.

At Kent State, our core values of respect and kindness for all demand that we step up to become part of the conversation that leads to a solution that will dismantle the systemic racism that has plagued our communities throughout history, and our university all too recently.

ѿappUniversity’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Plus (LGBTQ+) Center holds a safe, physically distant small group kickoff event at the start of the 2020 Fall Semester. 

ѿappUniversity’s commitment to maintaining a diverse and inclusive campus has received acknowledgement from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education, for an eighth consecutive year. INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine has selected ѿappas a recipient of the 2020 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award.

ideastream and WKSU receives grant

WKSU and ideastream have been awarded a $100,000 grant from The Corporation for Public Broadcasting to explore opportunities for growth and expansion of public media service in Northeast Ohio.

Two ѿappUniversity employees have been recognized among the 2020 “30 for the Future” award recipients by the Greater Akron Chamber.

Kent State's College of Public Health has created a new 100% online MPH in epidemiology degree.PH

The 100% online MPH, with a concentration in epidemiology , will have an official launch in fall semester 2020.

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded ѿappUniversity a $2.6 million, five-year TRIO Student Support Services program grant. The program serves students from first-generation and low-income backgrounds and students with diverse learning and physical abilities.

ѿappUniversity students began moving into residence halls on the Kent Campus on Aug. 19, as part of a phased-in process that will continue over five days.
