A year ago, Yeonmin Kim, Ph.D., ’13, a literature professor from Chonnam National University in Gwangju, South Korea, was concluding his time as a visiting professor at ѿappUniversity with one goal in mind: Create an exchange program between the two schools based on their historic campus tragedies.

ѿappUniversity’s School of Peace and Conflict Studies and School of Communication Studies has organized a panel discussion to talk about free speech and protest on campus to educate students about their rights and responsibilities.

Chris Post, Ph.D., professor of geography at ѿappUniversity at Stark, will serve as the 2024 speaker for the Jerry M. Lewis May 4 Lecture Series, a part of the university's annual May 4 Commemoration events.

The lecture series created in 2022 to honor the legacy of ѿappUniversity Professor Emeritus of Sociology Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., will feature Professor of Geography Chris Post, Ph.D., presenting “Developing and Interpreting the Wounded Student Markers at Kent State as this year’s selected speaker. The Jerry M. Lewis May 4 Lecture Series and Luncheon will be held on May 3.

Campus and community came together to share a once-in-a-lifetime event at ѿappUniversity. 

The ѿapplibrary stands tall in darkness while the moon blocks out the sun during the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.

It was a party 218 years in the making.

The thousands of people who came to ѿappUniversity on April 8 to witness the total solar eclipse did not leave disappointed by the celestial show, the likes of which had not been seen in Kent, Ohio since 1806.
