David Kaplan (center), professor in the Department of Geography, is one of three educators honored with the Distinguished Teaching Award, the highest teaching award a tenured or tenure-track professor can receive.

Many professors have certain influences that inspire them to teach. For David Kaplan, Ph.D., professor in ѿappUniversity's Department of Geography, that inspiration comes from his father.

“I definitely had a purpose going into my college career, and ѿappStark helped me achieve it,” says ѿappgraduate Kent Weaver.

Armed with a biology degree, completed entirely at ѿappUniversity at Stark, Kent Weaver says he is more than ready to pursue his calling to become a doctor of veterinary medicine.

The Ohio Economic Development Association (OEDA) presented its Annual Excellence in Workforce Development Award to the Multi-County Advanced Manufacturing Corridor, a partnership of ѿappat Tuscarawas and several economic development organizations.

John D. Johnson, associate professor of biological sciences, received a three-year, $450,000 grant for a study that could provide a better understanding of how we create deeply-ingrained fear memories — and how to stop them.
