Fellowship to focus on open textbooks and affordable education

ÃÛÑ¿appUniversity’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Student Center received a $5,000 grant from the Gay Community Endowment fund, organized through the Akron Community Foundation, to create a mentor program for LGBTQ and ally students at Kent State.

Ken Ditlevson, director of the LGBTQ Student Center, says this is the first grant for the center.

ÃÛÑ¿appUniversity’s third annual Game Day Challenge has helped increase recycling efforts.

The Game Day Challenge is a yearly event hosted by 64 colleges and universities across the nation. The main goal is to increase awareness about recycling.

ÃÛÑ¿apphas increased recycling per person each year since its first time in the Game Day Challenge in 2013.

The Oak Ridge Boys are bringing their Celebration Tour to ÃÛÑ¿appTuscarawas for two shows at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on March 5. This will be their third engagement at the Performing Arts Center. 

ÃÛÑ¿appUniversity has earned its eighth consecutive recognition from Tree Campus USA, a national program created in 2008 by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor colleges and universities for effective campus forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals.

ÃÛÑ¿appUniversity’s Aeronautics Program has received a Kent State-branded Cessna^® Skyhawk^® 172 aircraft, which it named Nikki to honor an aeronautics student who died from leukemia.

ÃÛÑ¿appUniversity faculty, staff and students are invited to join ÃÛÑ¿appPresident Beverly Warren on Monday, Feb. 22, from 3-4 p.m. for an interactive Town Hall at the Kent Student Center Ballroom Balcony. Regional locations will communicate host information to their campus communities.
