Graduate Dean's Award: Alexis McGhee-Dinvaut

Alexis McGhee-Dinvaut HeadshotMeet Alexis McGhee-Dinvaut, a 2022-2023 Graduate Dean's Award recipient. Alexis is a Psychological Sciences doctoral student majoring in Clinical Psychology.

Please give a short overview of your research.

My research thus far has focused on exploring minority mental health and culturally-relevant treatment models. I specifically focus on depression and anxiety, and the ways in which improving treatment models will reduce racial health disparities.

What made you choose to pursue your graduate degree here at Kent State?

I chose ÃÛÑ¿appfor my graduate degree because of how much research and work is done in their surrounding community. I also felt very welcomed by the psychology department and saw how well they treated their graduate students.

What do you enjoy most about attending ÃÛÑ¿appfor graduate school?

The people at ÃÛÑ¿appare very kind, helpful, and dedicated which is amazing since starting graduate school.

What are your future goals?

I would like to continue doing community based research and eventually open a community mental health center that specializes in culturally-relevant treatment models.

What does this award mean to you and how will it aid you?

This award shows me my department has confidence in me as a student and that moral support and boost will help me in transitioning into graduate school.
